late posts…BBV & Drago
last saturday, my friend invited me to his bbq/fight night. i’ve been to his bbqs before and they are usually filled with asian people who don’t talk a lot and girls who dress up like they’re going to a club. bbqs = smoky meat. smoky meat = stinky clothes. i opted for comfortable clothes, a sweatshirt, and flip flops. i knew there wasn’t anyone i wanted to impress there and besides that, i was ready to grub, drink beer, and watch a beat-down. i chitchat with some people, and then shoot the shit with these blk dudes before and after the fight. one of those dudes liked me apparently. that dude also plays volleyball and is an attorney. that dude is also 6’3”. i’ve nicknamed him BBV for big blk volleyball. he called me that night (i didn’t hear my phone) to make sure i got his number. then later that day he asked if i wanted to grab a bite. i am honestly a busy person. he’s been texting me and trying to plan something. i think next week sometime i’ll give him the opportunity of my presence. haha.
last night, i had a cinco de mayo date with a guy from OKC. i suggested we grab margaritas at a popular (but not too popular) mexican joint. bad idea. we get there and it is packed. there is nowhere to stand and have a decent conversation. even worse, and i mean WORSE, since it was so packed, we had to stand close to each other, and it was then when he earned his nickname of “drago”. drago is short for DB, which is short for “dragon breath”, which was the stank that came out of him. now this wasn’t your normal bad breath from smoking or food. this was something internal, like a dying beast was inside of him and its fumes were extruding out of his orifices. i am almost positive i made a face any time i got too close to the fumes. it was awful. it was horrendous. i suggested we shoot pool nearby, and where i could be at least five feet away at all times. it was only then could i even give him the chance to let his personality show. his personality was eh, a little on the boring site. he has eight years on me, but still seemed like he wasn’t financially comfortable. he recently got laid off and was still renting an apartment. i don’t know if i would see him again, but i think i should just to see if that dragon breath was a one off or the real deal. which if it is, i think i would have to find a way to politely tell him.
