match is boo, and the onion is meh

After about a week and a half, i gave up on match.  even with my age change, i think it isn’t a good database anymore.  meaning, i wasn’t getting as my views, winks, or emails from anyone.  not even ugly guys.

fast forward to the onion personals aka “fast cupid”.  a friend of mine started using it and encouraged me to do so.  at the begining of the year i swore online dating off, but i’ve just come to accept that this is how i meet most people of the opposite sex.  my cheapass decides to do the free subscription, which means i show up last on people’s searches and i can contact people who are gold members or by using points that you can purchase.  i like the flexibility of the service, but was a little disappointed (again) at how little emails i received.  after about a week, they trickled in.  the guys on this site are characters.  the ones i chatted with either via email or on the phone.

i decided i would try to take a new approach to dating.  i won’t dismiss guys too quickly if they aren’t as attractive as i wish them to be.  here is my quick lists of “musts”:

  • personality (makes me laugh)
  • has a decent job
  • has a car

i met up with a guy yesterday who made me laugh on the phone and on email.  i don’t have the paid subscription so i couldn’t really see his picture.  he is a big guy but he goes to the gym.  we exchanged some laughs and talked way too much (at his request) about online dating.  i saw his drivers license that had a pic taken from 7 years ago.  he was cuter in the DL.  in person, he looked like the verizon “can you hear me now” guy, but bigger and chunkier.  he’s not fat fat but i wasn’t completely attracted to him.  i figure i should put him in the friend category and see if the attraction will grow.  who knows.  NEXT!
